Getting Started as a GVSD Employee

Preparing for your onboarding meeting with our human resources department.

Our human resources department will schedule a meeting with you to get you set up. When you come to this meeting, please make sure you bring the following with you:

  • A government issued photo ID
  • If you're not a Canadian citizen, bring any documentation relevant to your ability to work in Canada
  • A satisfactory criminal record check and child abuse registry check (see Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry Checks)
  • A cancelled cheque or bank account info including institution number, transit number, and account number to be used for payroll direct deposits.

 

What to expect at your meeting with human resources

Every position is a little bit different, but here are some of the things you may go over when you meet with our HR team:

  • Review and sign your employment agreement
  • Receive your GVSD username and password to log in to your new email and other resources
  • Setup of multi-factor authentication, which is required if you plan to access your GVSD account on personal devices

 


Once you know your login information

 

Logging in to a GVSD computer

You can log in to any GVSD computer with your username and password. This will give you access to your own files, emails, teams messages and more.

 

Connecting to Wi-Fi

To connect to the Wi-Fi with your GVSD account...

  1. Open your device's settings app, and find your Wi-Fi settings
  2. Choose GVSD-BYOD from the list
  3. Enter your GVSD username and password (do not enter @gvsd.ca, enter only your firstname.lastname)
  4. Trust the certificate (if asked to do so)
  5. Click Connect
  6. You'll see a popup asking you to agree to the terms of service. Enter your username and password again, then read through the terms and click "I agree to the terms and conditions", then click Sign On.
    • If your browser does not open on it's own, you might have to close your browser app and reopen it for the login page to display.
  7. Click Continue
  8. Click Done

You are now connected.

Please check with your school office if you have trouble signing in to the Wi-Fi.

 

GVSD Portal

Once you have your GVSD login information you'll have access to our GVSD portal. Our portal is expanding every day with important links, help documents, and information. You can access it at the link below with your GVSD email. (Note that if you're using a personal device to access this site you'll need to have already set up your multi-factor authentication).
